Our client, a commercial legal practice with a strong focus on agriculture, rural estates, the food sector and commercial property, is looking to appoint a Solicitor (Litigation) to be based in their Spalding office. Their reputation is based on providing practical and comprehensive solutions to the challenges and opportunities faced by their business and individual clients.
Established for over 80 years they have developed beyond their historic East Midlands heartland, act for clients across the country and sit comfortably among the UK’s top 200 law firms. There are four offices: Spalding, Peterborough, Nottingham and Alconbury.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Undertaking Common law and statutory property claims, including breach of covenants, injunctions, removal of trespassers, landlord and tenant disputes as well as boundary disputes
  • Providing legal advice to a range of clients, including the negotiation and drafting of documentation
  • Carrying out in an effective, efficient and timely manner the various stages of legal proceedings with the aim of protecting the interests of the client
  • Assuming responsibility for important elements of the work that is handled by a designated Partner
  • Operating effectively with clients and their professional and financial advisers – managing specific fields
  • Working under the direction of a Partner and receiving assignments with specified objectives
  • Assisting and supervising Trainees and Paralegals
  • Managing of Client/matter files
  • Managing fee income and collection of bills.
Key skills & requirements:
  • Qualified Solicitor of between NQ and 5 years PQE
  • Previous experience in other forms of commercial Litigation, regulatory, contentious probate, shareholder and partnership disputes and employment litigation
  • Previous experience of working in Litigation department, across a range of clients, handling a diverse range of issues
  • A strong desire to learn and widen knowledge
  • The ability to act independently to a reasonably high level, but also to work with more experience Partners and Fee Earners on more complex and specialised matters as required
  • Previous experience of building relationships with both new and existing clients and professionals including a natural ability to promote marketing and business development initiatives in a dynamic way
  • Good communication skills in order to explain legal matters clearly to clients
  • Discretion and the ability to respect client confidentiality
  • Tackle tasks in a structured manner to ensure completion to a high standard
  • Have solid organisation and time management skills
  • Previous experience of working in a team and the ability to develop relationships with colleagues
  • Proven attention to detail and drafting skills
  • Possess sound problem-solving skills
  • The ability to adapt to a broad range of situations and circumstances and remain calm under pressure
  • Strong technical knowledge in Property Litigation
In return, our client offers a salary of £30,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience, plus 23 days holiday, plus pension, Membership of the Group Personal Pension Scheme. up to 4% matching contribution, Permanent Health Insurance salary will be insured against extended disability (75% for 3 years), Private Health Care, Life insurance cover to the value of 3 times your annual salary and free onsite parking
